the dualies

rad EP review from tumblog thenoisefilter:

Hey guys!  I’m trying to be all productive and stuff, so I’ve got another album for you today!  I hope you’ve all been great.  Today I’ve got a month-old three song EP by the indie synthpop group The Dualies.

To get my major criticism of this album out of the way at the front, I want more.  Though it’s only 9:02, the music doesn’t let up for a moment.  Their fuzzy synths play simple but driving hooks, and the vocalist is amazing.  She stays mellow and dreamy, and barely manages to keep her head above the pool of luscious reverb.  Their beats aren’t just danceable, you have to dance to them.  Their melodies are a mixture of chiptune synths and compressed guitar, which really complement the airy vocals.  It’s got the 80s retro sound, but it’s done really well by young people.  It’s definitely worth a listen or five, and it will probably go really well at your next party!

Free download at their Bandcamp!

And I mean really, what records have you heard this summer with an awesome looking kitty on the cover that *haven’t* been freaking awesome?  I’m not saying these guys are the new Best Coast or Wavves, but I am saying that they’re awesome.  Go listen to this, like, now!  I hope you like it! :D
